Xu Liu Shan Desserts - Hong Kong
Filed Under (China, Cuisines, Hong Kong, Shopping, Travelling) by Janet on 03-06-2008
It was at Tung Choi Street near Ladies Street (or Ladies Market) in Hong Kong where we saw the famous desserts store - Xu Liu Shan (in Chinese), or Hui Lau Shan Healthy Dessert Store (translated in Cantonese). And this desserts Store happens to be Dear & my most favourite desserts Store in Hong Kong!!
Dear & I first had our Mango Juice with Mangoes in a Xu Liu Shan Desserts Store in Hong Kong 3 years ago, & we’ve since fell greatly in love with it!! And once about 2 years ago, our hometown Singapore had a Xu Liu Shan branch set up in Orchard Road & we’d also been there a few times, though the desserts served in this Singapore branch weren’t as good & as much in proportions compared to the ones we used to eat in Hong Kong - that was disappointing……..& true enough as we’d anticpated, the Singapore branch closed down after several months!!
Anyway, it was just so wonderful we spotted this Xu Liu Shan Desserts Store as Dear & I finished our shopping at the Ladies Street, & we were feeling hungry for food!!!
So, in we came to the Xiu Liu Shan Desserts Store & here below are its Name Cards with all the branches’ addresses - Dear & I made sure we took these Name Cards so that next time we know where to look for our favourite yummy delicious desserts when we’re visiting Hong Kong :
We’re now seated inside Xu Liu Shan - very vibrant colorful pretty Store which warmly & cheerfully welcomes us as we walked inside - hmm…….our tired moods suddenly lit up with excitement & happiness!!
We’re now looking at the Xu Liu Shan Menu :
Our desserts arrived soon after we made our orders - Dear with our 2 Bowls of yummy yummy Mango desserts :
Sago in Mango Juice with Extra Mangoes - we noticed that the Mangoes served now are not as much & as big as we used to have 3 years back - but they still tasted as good as ever :
Glutinous Rice Balls in Mango Juice with Extra Mangoes - hmm…..we especially loved the mini Glutinous Rice Balls (”Tangyuan” in Chinese) - so springy & delicious :
Plastic Cutleries stored underneath the tables - very smart & neat :
Fish Balls, Squids, Pig Skins, Radish & Beef Stripes in Curry Sauce :
The aromatic homely curry fragrance of this Cuisine strongly attracted us into looking at the Menu to see what exactly was being sold, & we were surprised that there were food dishes served instead of only just desserts in Xu Liu Shan!!
Dear tucking into our Curry Cuisines - it was really good but a little too spicy for Dear :
But I just loved it cos I love hot spicy food heheh - me enjoying the very very yummy delicious Curry Cuisines :
Haha, I never knew that the Hong Kong people know how to eat Curry spiced Cuisines till I tasted this most delicious dish - all the ingredients (Fish Balls, Squids, Pig Skins, Radish & Beef Stripes) were well prepared & very rich in the thick curry flavour - they were so good I loved them so much!!
Dear & I were real big eaters cos after our 2 bowls of Sago in Mango Juice with Extra Mangoes, & the Glutinous Rice Balls in Mango Juice with Extra Mangoes, & the above Fish Balls, Squids, Pig Skins, Radish & Beef Strips in Curry Sauce, we were still hungry for more haha!!
So we ordered another bowl of Black Glutinous Rice in Mango & Coconut Juice with Extra Mangoes :
Dear finishing up our last Mango dessert - it was pretty good, though we felt it would be much better if it was more chilled :
Well, ordering one more dessert?!?!?
Hahaha NOPE NOPE, just for photo’s sake that I was pointing at the Menu!!! But actually we’d wanted to order more but then we remembered this was just tea-break for us & that we’d in mind a really special place for dinner soon after this heheh!!
Leaving Xu Liu Shan Desserts Store now :
Dear footing our Bill at Xu Liu Shan :
Bye Bye Xu Liu Shan - thank you thank you so much for such wonderful desserts & Hong Kong Cuisines - you truely warm our hearts dearly!!
