Enjoying Xinjiang Cuisines for our Last Dinner in Beijing, China

Filed Under (Beijing, China, Cuisines, Travelling) by Janet on 02-06-2008

From the Beijing Underground City Tour, we came to this Xinjiang Restuarant for our last dinner in Beijing, cos it was our last night in Beijing. Dear & I would be flying to Hong Kong tomorrow morning!

The Restaurant was completely empty except for the 6 of us – our tourmates Auntie & Uncle, our tour guide & driver Sifu, & Dear & myself.

Dear sitted at the corner with Auntie & Uncle :

Dear ordered a bottle of our favourite Beijing orange drink – Cooling Cold & Refreshing!!

Dinner was served – Stewed Muttons on top of huge thick Roti (or Naan as called in Xinjiang), garnished with Chinese Parsley, sliced Carrots, Green Bell Peppers & Gingers :

I’ve eaten (in Xinjiang) such huge plainly toasted Naan which was very crispy on the outside but soft in the inside & they were really fragrant & delicious, but I’ve never eaten Naan cooked this way!

Dear picking up a huge piece of the soaked-in-stew Naan!

Plate of stewed Chickens with Potatoes, sliced Green Bell Peppers, Chilies & Leeks, cooked in slightly curry flavoured sauce – The Naan turned out not too bad, though it was a bit soaky from the sauce, & tasted not as crispy & as great as the ones I ate while travelling in Xinjiang!

These 2 Dishes (Muttons & Chickens) were both cooked in similiar ways & tasted similiar, except for the different meats!

The Restaurant waitress mixing the thick huge long Noodles with the stewed Muttons.

Huge bowls of rice to go with our Xinjiang Cuisines :

Haha, Dear kept complaining that the dishes were similiarly cooked!!

Hotpot Mutton Mushroom Soup – the Muttons had a pretty strong foul smell which we all disliked!

Our last dish was stir-fry Green Peas with sliced Carrots :

Dear was pretty disappointed with the Xinjiang Dinner – as he said what a lousy dinner for our last day in Beijing!! But I think the food was ok, except for the Muttons in the Soup which tasted not too good for our likings!

Well, compared to our previous Xinjiang Dinner & Dance experience, this Dinner was not as good, cos the Restaurant was not as clean & as nice, besides, the food wasn’t as great too, though they were pretty original!!

Here’s the Restaurant waitress (17-year-old from Yunnan who goes back home once or twice a year!) carrying the very chubby pretty baby who was the precious daughter of the boss of the next-door grocery store :

This gorgeous baby’s name is “Mong Rong” in Chinese – her name has got something to do with Dreams & Honor – what a beautiful name!!

Hello Mong Rong – so Nice to meet you sweetie!!

You’re such a little gorgeous darling wish I could kidnap you home!!

The 2 Restaurant waitresses with Mong Rong :

We finished our dinner & are leaving the Restaurant now.

Both the 17-year-old Yunnan waitress & I kicked off really well so we both took a photo together outside the Restaurant – haha what a huge giant I look standing beside the so so slim so sweet girl!! What a shame!!

Now, the following Slideshow contains the rest of all my photos taken outside & inside the Xinjiang Restaurant, as well as our Xinjiang Cuisines, with a heartwarming Uyghur song from Xinjiang - enjoy enjoy!
