Filed Under (Cuisines, Florida, Orlando, Travelling, USA) by Janet on 07-02-2009
Dear & I are strolling along Frontierland when we see people eating HUGE DRUMSTICKS that look so scrumptious making us mouth-watering…………………
So we check out our near surrounding & see this huge crowd infront of this Disney World Western Wagon Store that sells SMOKED TURKEY LEGS!! Haha they must be those HUGE Drumsticks alright!!!
Dear quickly joins in the crowd at the long Queue for TURKEY LEG :
See the little CUTIE girl in Black with Red MICKEY & Red trimmings top & jeans standing infront of the Turkey Leg Store waiting for her dad – young and old – they all love the Turkey Legs!!
It’s Dear’s turn now as his back Sweater MICKEY happily jumps for joy heheh!!
The American Turkey seller handing the Smoked Turkey Leg to Dear – & of course, we won’t go without another bottle of American Coke :
“WOW Dear it’s sosooooooo HUGE!!!” Dear smiles widely as he shows off our SMOKED TURKEY LEG & Coke :
“Haha is this really TURKEY Leg?!?! How come it’s so huge!!”Dear keeps asking & I keep saying “YES, it can be cos TURKEY birds can be real HUGE!!”
“How to eat?!?! It’s so BIG!!!” to which I tell him “JUST BITE!!” as Dear bites into the HUGE Turkey Leg in the most primitive way – look how WIDE his mouth has to open cos the LEG’s so HUGE haha!!
Mmmm………….Dear can’t believe it’s so soft & tender………………..
Mmmmm…………it’s SO GOOD!!! Sosososoooooooo GOOD!!!
MY GOODNESS, it’s really so BIG so big!!!! What a DELIGHT!!!! Hahaha!!
And our surrounding passer-bys start staring & looking our way heheh!!
It tastes so DELICIOUS – the Turkey meat’s so tender & juicy considering it’s so HUGE!!!! Really Amazing & Unbelievable!!
Now, many people including Dear thinks this must be EMU or OSTRICH LEG, but the truth is it’s really very REAL Turkey Leg!!
And let me tell you more about this Fabulous TURKEY LEG - coming from Upper Midwestern Turkey where Turkey Birds weigh about 40 to 50 pounds, this Turkey Leg itself weighs about 1.5 pounds which is equivalent to 0.68 kg!!! WOW that’s HEAVY!!!
And the secret recipe of these Smoked Turkey Legs is that a Salt Cure is injected into the Legs’ muscle tissues to assure absorption, & they’re then slow cooked in the Smoker for 6 long hours.
And these SMOKED TURKEY LEGS are one of the Signature Snacks of Walt Disney World – a real cool yummy speciality that a Million & half of them are consumed yearly in the World famous Theme Park!!!
The time now is 2.30pm, & cos there’s a Live Parade going on very soon in half hour’s time, Dear & I decide to sit down by the side of one of the Frontierland Souvenir Stores, together with the crowd already gathering for the Parade – so that we can continue eating our HUGE Smoked Turkey Leg, as well as rest our own exhausted Legs……………..
And Dear starts snaping pics of Me enjoying our gigantic Turkey Leg - the very primitive way haha!!
And it’s now my turn to take pics of Dear eating our same Turkey Leg – it’s so HUGE & has just so much meat in it that you’d wana share BELIEVE Me!!!
Actually, Dear’s also feeding me by biting off bits & pieces off the huge Leg cos I’m just too tired & lazy to hold the HEAVY Leg & eat it by myself heheheh!!
Plus drinking the sososooooo COLD American Coke – Dear & I are right now feeling fantastic as Turkey Leg plus Coke is simply heavenly!!! SUPERB!!!
Here’s a lovely view seen from where we’re seated at Frontierland eating our Turkey Leg & people-watching :
Haha here’s another pic of Dear ATTACKING the Turkey Leg!!
So yummy yummy Dear’s extremely jolly……………
And it’s also so finger-licking good!!!! So very TASTY!!
Another pic of Dear SALVAGING the Turkey Leg – the animal way!!!
Dear thoroughly skins through the entire Turkey Leg & here’s the HUGE Bone left :
Yummy Yummy & Most delicious TURKEY we’ve ever eaten in our whole life!! Dear & I enjoy the Smoked Turkey Leg so tremendously we’ve simply no words but all smiles & happiness to our expressions as we finish up the very last bit of meat left from the HUGE Turkey Bone………….feeling extremely satisfied from our sumptous MEATY Snack………………..
So for those of you who’ve yet to have a taste of this wonderfull Walt Disney World SPECIALTY Snack, you must all remember to come try it the next time you visit the Theme Park!! DO NOT FORGET!!!

i want the real recipe of turkey legs…..please
Dear Mary,
Pleasure to meet you
)
I just searched on the Internet & it seems that there’s no known original recipe of the great Turkey Legs of Disney’s & Disney claims that they get them pre-cooked from supplier & heat them up for serving to customers. And haha I even tried searching for the supplier but have no luck
(
But hey I found on Recipelink.com this “Smoked Turkey Legs like Disney’s” recipe that a Mike Alabama picked up from different recipes that he found online – here it goes :
6 large turkey legs
1/2 cup (or more) dark brown sugar
1/2 cup table salt
6 tsp liquid smoke
Put turkey legs in a large pot.
Dissolve brown sugar in three cups water and pour over turkey legs.
Dissolve table salt in three cups water and pour over turkey legs.
Add water to just cover turkey legs (mine took 12 cups total).
Remove turkey legs and add liquid smoke. Stir well until all is dissolved.
Put turkey legs back in and let soak overnight, covered in the refrigerator.
Smoke or grill until done, I used a large grill with a metal pan between the legs and the charcoal.
I poured the brine into the pan and kept it filled during cooking by adding water. I did not use any wood chips.
Well, I sure hope it works for you Mary – HAPPY Cooking & enjoy your Turkey Legs
)))
I will personally send $100 via PayPal to the first person who can find me the recipe/technique for cooking one of these masterpieces of meat.
Hahaa Nick guess my above Walt Disney World Smoked Turkey Recipe doesnt come under your category of Masterpieces of Meat Recipes/Techniques at all huh!?!?!? How very sad
