What a most authentic beautiful welcome treat for all of us here upon our arrival at Dunhuang International Hotel…………..the grand Lion Dance (or “Wushi” in Chinese) plus the lighting of Fire Crackers (or “Bianbao” in Chinese) really make us feel like real important VIP guests!!
Heheh everything’s so excited!! It’s been a long time since I saw Fire Crackers - the last was at a Temple in Hatyai (Thailand) several years ago, & the last last last time was many tens of years ago in my old kampong house during our annual Chinese Festive Seasons back home in Singapore!
The following is a Slideshow of pics taken of our Room here at Dunhuang International Hotel :
Camels on Sales at the Souvenirs Shop - but none looking as genuine & as beautiful as the 4 Camels which I’ve got yesterday from Chang Cheng Hotel Shopping Arcade in Jiayuguan :
Here’s the boss of the Souvenirs Shop - a local Dunhuang Artist painting Souvenir T-shirts outside his Shop - from whom I bought 2 T-Shirts too, which I’ll be collecting later tonight cos the Artist needs more time to paint!!!
This Chinese Artist is actually a well-known Artist in Asia, who also did the Paintings inside Dunhuang International Hotel…………….
Ahaha the following is a most rare & unusual but most famous Dunhuang Speciality - Camel Hooves (or “Touzhang” in Chinese)!! Dare try them!?!?
The following left cool Noodle Dish is called “Rang Pizi” - Noodle made from Pea Flour, which is another popular local Dunhuang speciality :
Here’s a huge plate of Artillery Shell Melons which are our other after-dinner Dessert - treats from our Tour mates who bought them from the local Dunhuang Fruits Stalls where we visited this afternoon :
As the evening draws near on our very first day here in the Desert Oasis of Dunhuang, our Chinese Tour Guide arranged for us to be sent here, by our local Chinese Driver (whom we call “Sifu” meaning “Master” in Chinese), to this Dunhuang Night Market called “Shazhou Market” (”Shazhou” meaning “Desert Oasis“) - YEAH Yeah it’s SHOPPING & seeing more rare Dunhuang Specialities again now heheh :
Yes Yes I finally got myself a brand new pair of Sneakers Shoes - to replace my (suddenly!) broken Black Boots which Mom got me from Shanghai during one of her travelling trips to China!
And I’m most fortunate cos this new pair of Orange high-cut Shoes (which are more like Boots to me!) are of real leather with beautiful Suede, & it only costs me 200RMB!!
My Black Boots were actually still in very good shape when I wore it on this Tour to the Silk Road of China, but due to the cold weather along our travels from Xi’an, the soles of my Boots soon got torn!
In fact, a few of our other Tour mates’ shoes also gave way hahah!! So remember, we must always wear only the most reliable & durable Shoes during such a Trip to the Silk Road of China!
Remembering my 2 Dunhuang Souvenir T-shirts which I ordered earlier this afternoon……………
Hmm………mmm……………I’ve had a most wonderful evening out shopping & walking in Shazhou Night Market of Dunhuang & getting my hands on real beautiful Dunhuang Souvenirs I’m really liking the Silk Road of China heheh……………..
