Filed Under (Cuisines, General, Singapore, Special Events) by Janet on 22-06-2008
Yesteday was the day my Family & I had been looking forward to, cos we would all get to meet our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong! Well, it was actually cos my parents had won the 1st Prize of a 3G (3-Generations Family) Competition (organised by Kaki Buikit Community Centre) & they would be receiving their prize at the Kakit Bukit Family Carnival 2008, & our PM was the Guest-of-Honour.
My whole Family was very excited & Dear & I were the first 2 to arrive at my parents’ place in the afternoon, & Dear has bought a huge box of ”Missy Donut” for Mom & Dad - how Sweet of him!
The Box of Beautifullly Colored Designed Mouth-watering Donuts!
My favourite is the PINK Heart-shaped Donut - so so Sweet!! I never knew they come in heart shapes too & I was praising Dear for being so clever in picking so many different Nice Colorful pieces!! The whole combination just look so Beautiful & Delicious!!
Hmm….the Donuts were real delicious! After eating one each, I accompanied Mom to the Hair Salon in her neighbourhood.

Finally completed, Mom was very pleased & Happy with her hair-do!

My 4th sister & her family soon arrived & we all started walking to the Carnival. We were very excited when we saw the side lanes leading to the Carnival decorated with colorful Flags.
Dear standing infront of the Kaki Bukit Neighbourhood Park where the Carnival was held.
Wow, it was a big event cos the whole Park was filled with people & numerous colorful gigantic Castle Balloons, Games Booths etc.
As Mom & Dad had won the 1st Prize in the 3G (3-Generations Family) Competition, they were told by the Kaki Bukit Community staff to arrive at the 3G Photo Booth of the Family Carnival before 7pm. It was about time when we arrived at the Carnival - Mom & Dad being photographed at the 3G Photo Booth below :
Next was my whole Family being photoraphed - well actually not the whole cos my 3rd brother & family, my 4th brother, as well as 2 of my brother-in-laws & some nieces & nephews were missing cos they could not make it in the last minute. Well, can you guess in total how many kids & grandkids my parents have? Well, they have 9 kids & 16 grandkids in total & my whole family altogether is a BIG No 36 - Very HUGE Family right heheh!!
Mom & Dad were later seated at their “Prize Winners’ Seats specially allocated for them, whereas we all had to stand around to watch the MAGIC Show going on. What a nice Huge Stage!
Mom & Dad seated at the Viewing Gallery :
Below photo shows a Worried-faced Mom cos she was worried that my niece (who had not her dinner then) would be hungry, & that we all had no seats & would be tired etc etc etc…….aiya, that’s Mom who can’t help worrying all the time for our whole family & always putting everybody else before herself - to me she’s the GREATEST Mom, Ah Ma, Wife & Woman in the World Wide World!!!

The MC soon announced the 1st Prize Winners of the 3G (3-Generations Famiily) Competition - Mr & Mrs Ong Teck Wah - my Mom & Dad!!
And up the Stage came the BIGGEST Family in the Kaki Bukit Community - Mom & Dad with our Family walking up Stage!

Our big Family up on the Stage :
Mandy squatting down by the Stage stairs to photograph our Family (with the Prize-giver) while the REAL Photographer man (standing infront of Mandy) guided them on how/where to stand/squat to pose for his camera cps ther were so many of us together!
And the above photo was a quick snapshot of my Family (with the Prize-giver & excluding myself) which I took just before I ran to join them to pose for the REAL Photographer man’s camera.
Downstage - Mom & Dad happily showing off our Family portrait (the one which was earlier taken at the 3G Booth of the Carnival & which came as part of the 1st Prize) to the 2nd Prize winner - their good buddy neighbour whom we call “Ah Sim the Electric Ah Ma” cos she owns an electric shop in the neighbourhood. And we must really thank her for asking Mom & Dad to join the 3G Competition cos she knew Mom & Dad were the BEST Choice Winner cos they’ve a Huge & Good Family of 3 Generations!! If not, we weren’t even aware that there was such a Competition going on! Thank you Ah Sim for your Support!!

We soon heard announcements that our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong would be arriving at the Carnival soon, so we went down to the foot of the Park by the roadsides to join the already-there huge crowd awaiting our PM. Dear & I were very excited to meet our Prime Minister cos we’ve never seen him in real person! And being in the happy exciting moods, we started taking photos of ourselves while waiting to see “The Big Man”!
Dear & I with Mandy.
Dear & I with my nephew Dennis who is very keen in photography like I do, but he’s not as CRAZY as I who just can’t stop snapping away wherever I go!

There were by now bigger huge crowds of people gathering around us waiting for our Prime Minister.
Look at the Crowds of people behind Dear - they were all lined up in the Park all waiting to see our Prime Minister!
Mandy smiling for my camera again - she’s such a sweet lovely girl with beautiful smiles!
The red-carpeted raised floor stage by the roadside where the Prime Minister would be stepping on upon his arrival.
There were so many people everywhere in the Park - young & old, they’d all come to try to get a glimpse of our Prime Minister in person!
We waited for a pretty long time before we finally heard announcements that our PM was arriving. By now, the crowds of people had become bigger & they’d come closer around the red-carpeted floor stage.
Look at the below photos which show the many many tens of people gathering at the Park awaiting the arrival of our Prime Minister :
Our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong was finally arriving :
Hey I expected to see some traffic police cars guarding infront & behind our Prime Minister’s fanciful posh expensive grand vehicle but what we saw was a Van approaching :
The Van stopped infront of the Red-carpeted raised floor stage & out came our Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, & were we very surprised that he was actually seated inside the Van, with the rest of the Grassroots Leaders. And he was dressed in orange tees like everybody else - how Cool!!
2 bodyguards quickly followed suit after our Prime Minister stepped out of the Van.
