Still at the Lindbergh Terminal of Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport waiting for our connecting flight to Orlando, Florida – Dear’s feeling kinda hungry so we decide to dine at the Quiznos Sub  - Well, as Dear puts it – “There’re so many local American travellers eating in there it’s got to be good!!!”

Now, Dear has just bought our best love drinks - Coco-Cola – heheh we finally get to have a taste of the American Coke!! And like what my nephew Daniel (who had just been to USA) says, Coke is really very expensive here in America – this bottle of Coke here costs about US$2.50 (inclusive of tax) which is about S$3.80, which is twice or more the amount for our same-sized Coke back home in Singapore!! But trust me, Dear & I absolutely love the American Coke cos we find it tastes so much better - & we absolutely think it’s worth that extra $$ ))

Dear with our Coke & Sandwich – believe me the American Coke is simply fantastic (unlike the ones from Singapore!!) – both Dear & I love it so much!!

My turn to tuck into the Black Angus Beef Steak Sandwich!! Hmm……..so much soft tender freshiest beef mixed with all ingredients in-between the toasted Bread it’s just so good!! Unblievable!!

Dear’s really enjoying his Sandwich – what a great choice indeed!! And it turns out that Quiznos Sub is a HOT American huant after Subway – though Dear & I both think that it’s even better & tastier than Subway!! At least for us who’ve only eaten Subway in Singapore & not in America!!

After having a good time at the Quiznos Sub, Dear & I continue to walk around in the Airport as we’ve still got some time before our flight to Orlando Florida.

Here below, we’re trying to peep through the huge glass window from the Airport to the far end of the Airport runway where it’s covered with beautiful snow among trees – however this snapshot of mine doesn’t show its true beauty at all :

The outside temperature right now is about -7 degrees celcius – however it doesn’t seem that cold at all from where we’re standing, though we can see the outside Airport workers wearing very thick jackets & coats!!

And here’s a snapshot of Snowy Winter Minnesota as seen from the edge of the glass window as Dear & I shout excitedly to each other “Hey Dear come look at the Snowy Road down below!!!”

Now, the following’s a Minnesota Magazine showing the newly elected President of United States of America Barack Obama at a Newstand Souvenir Store in the Airport where I try hunting for a Obama Souvenir Magnet – but to my dismay there isn’t any to be found!!

Then out of the blue, Dear & I suddenly realise that it’s almost 2.45pm now & that our flight departs in 45mins time!! And we’re still a pretty long way back to our Departure Gate 74 (in the other far end) – so we start to walk as fast as we can towards the Gate……….

And along the way, there’s this United States of America Space Shuttle Arcade Game which catches my eyes to stop to take 2 snapshots of it :

Dear & I hurry on towards our Departure Gate & we’re almost there when we make another quick stop to take in the lovely serene sights outside the Airport :

I simply love the leaveless trees………….

And they’re so gorgeous it’s always been my dream to see such Winter sceneries & I’m feeling so blessed to be standing here right now………& I think I’m already fallen in love with Minnesota……………

We’re now nearing our Departure Gate 74 as we enjoy the huge above-in-the-ceiling Aircraft – which we find really special & cool :

And I’m pleasantly surprised & really happy to see a Starbucks Store beside our Departure Gate - cos I wana buy its Coffee Powder for Mom & Dad who drink Starbucks daily back in the comfort of their home in Singapore!!

Still remember I was the first person to bring home a pack of Starbucks Coffee Powder many years ago, & Mom & Dad have been hooked on it ever since & never stay home without having the Coffee!!

Besides, I’ve always looked for Coffee powder everywhere I travel to, so that I can bring home for Mom & Dad who’re staunch Coffee Lovers!!

Dear & I touched down at Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport – Minnesota, USA at local American time about 11.15am (13 hours behind Singapore) – flying almost 11 hours from Tokyo, Japan.

All the way from our hometown in Singapore, Minneapolis is our 2nd & last Transit Stop on our way to our final destination in Orlando, Florida in USA – Our next & last connecting flight to Orlando takes off at 3.30pm from Minneapolis.

Known as the “Land of 10,000 Lakes“ (actually it has more than 12000 Lakes!!), the State’s name – “Minnesota” is based on the Dakota or Sioux Indian word for “Sky-tinted Water” which refers to the Minnesota Rivers & the State’s many Lakes. Filled with massive Water, Lakes, Forests, Parks & Wilderness areas, nearly 60% of Minnesota residents live in the metropolitan area of Minneapolis-Saint Paul – also known as the “Twin Cities” – the former the Largest City & the later the Capital of Minnesota.

Upon our arrival at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport, Dear & I have to queue for a pretty long time at the US Immigration Checkpoint cos there’re many travellers, & we’re asked a few questions by the Immigration Officer such as “Why are we here in the US?”, “How long will we be staying in the US?” & “Is this our first visit to the US?” – basically he wana make sure that we’re not illegal immigrants into the USA.

And true enough as we read earlier during our flight from Tokyo to Minneapolis when we were filling up the US Immigration Arrival & Departure Forms – that only one Form needs to be filled if we’re travelling as a Family – as confirmed with the Immigration Officer (in this case he accepts my Singaporean Green Form instead of Dear’s).

And then we were told by the Officer to submit a Form (which is part of the Forms we filled up earlier) to a Flight Baggage Counter just outside the main Immigration Checkpoint, so that our checked-in Travelling Luggages (from Singapore) will continue to be automatically transferred (just like in Tokyo) to our next connecting domestic flight, to our final destination in Orlando, Florida.

And well, once out of the Immigration Checkpoint it’s of course shopping time again for Dear & I – Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport has 2 Terminals – Humphrey Terminal, & Lindbergh Terminal which is where we’re at right now.

And our pick of an American Drink is MELLO YELLO – a citrus-flavoured soft drink (which I later find out is produced & distributed by the Coca-Cola Company – NO WONDER Dear & I love it at first sip cos we love Coca Cola lots lots!!!

Directly opposite Mcdonald’s is North Shore News & Gifts where Dear & I visit & if you know me very well – YES!! I’m hunting for my Minnesota Souvenir Magnets alright!!

Dear & I continue to shop around in the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport, & we’re surprised to see that it’s actually very huge & spacious, with many pretty & interesting shops & restaurants too!

Dear’s now standing outside MINNESOTA! – such a beautiful store with a large wooden carved MOOSE gracing the front – how Unique!! Haha I just love things wooden :

And upon entering MINNESOTA!- we’re immediately greeted by a very friendly local Salesgirl with whom Dear & I start chatting with – & she gets pretty amazed when she hears that we’re from Singapore & that we’ve just flown almost 20 hours here to Minneapolis!!

And at the same time, I can’t help by telling her how lucky she is to be living in Minnesota, & how I envy her cos it’s such a lovely place up here in the North, where I can see many Christmas Trees & white SNOWY patches everywhere when I was up in our Flight just before landing at the Airport – & she says that it’s indeed very beautiful out here except that she wishes it’s not so cold!!!

And here’s another large greeting of a huge wooden Minnesota WELCOME BLACK BEARS at the entrance – see also the Black Salesgirl on the left – well, there’re many Black employees like her in the Airport whom we later see :

And Dear & I are really thrilled to see that each & every corner inside MINNESOTA! is adorned with many special beautiful local Souvenirs such as wooden photo frames, kitchenware, t-shirts, accessories etc – & here’re colorful Pamphlets of the Minnesota Wildlife :

And while paying for our purchases at the cash counter, we see the following Chocolate Moose Droppings which are highly recommended by the Salesgirl & which for a seconds, Dear & I think that they’re for real – as though they’re REAL Moose Droppings covered with Chocolates!! Hahahah!! How SILLY of us – of course they’re not cos they’re just Chocolate Covered Almonds!!

And by now, Dear & I are both very much amazed & amused by the many types, big & small, special, beautiful & extraordinary souvenirs we see in most of the Shops here at the Minneapolis-St Paul International Airport that we don get to see back home in Singapore, or in most countries we’ve travelled to.

And we feel really happy that we can be here enjoying the experience together – especially Dear who still can’t believe that he’s really here in America!! And he keeps asking me if it’s all a dream haha!!

I’m soon back at the smaller MINNESOTA! store where I have a quick browse through inside, & this is when the in-store Salesgirl begin to chat with me asking “Where am I flying to” & “Where am I from?” which in the first place she thought I’m a Japanese or Korean…………… 

And I soon find out that the Salesgirl’s actually from Africa who’s come & been living in Minnesota for 4 years now. No wonder we’ve been seeing so many Black people since our arrival in Minneapolis & as I guess, they’re actually mostly African Immigrants.

And very funny thing is the Salesgirl’s completely awed by the fact that I’m almost 38 years old now when we start chatting about our age!! She’s a 26-year-old mummy of a 8-month-old baby girl & she thinks I’m only about 24 years old heheh!!

And she keeps telling me that I look so young & that my face is very beautiful & my body in lovely shape which I in-turn tell her I’m already so old & so fat compared to her slender frame!! She’s really funny & very cute cos she just can’t believe that I’m about to turn 40 that I almost have to show her my Passport as proof haha!!

Well, the Salesgirl & I pretty much chat till Dear’s out of his toilet break, & I am about to ask her for a photo with me if not for her getting very busy with a customer who’s just walked into the Store………….

Soon after, Dear checks out the nearby Northern Lights Grill Restaurant as he’s feeling a little hungry - look at its amazingly carved Timber Wolves outside the Restaurant :

Dear & I seated comfortably onboard Flight NW20 – this Boeing 747 from Tokyo to Minnesota is not as new as the earlier Airbus Triple 7 we took from Singapore to Tokyo, & it’s a 3-seater though it’s also by the window, but I think the seats are much more comfortable! Unfortunately, there’s no individual TV for each & everyone of us onboard!! How sad ((

Dear’s extremely excited cos we’ll be nearing USA soon!!! Haha actually not really cos it’s about another 11 hours flight from Tokyo before we reach Minnesota!!!

But it’s alright cos we plan to sleep cos both Dear & I are pretty tired since we woke up before 3am this morning for our 6am departure flight from Singapore!!

And we’re really looking forward to our Dreamland in the USA…………….

Dear & I soon fall asleep after take-off from Tokyo till it’s time for our Inflight snacks - now enjoying our American Pretzel Minis with Pepsi – actually Dear & I wan Coca Cola but Northwest Airlines do not serve Coke but only Pepsi – & the Pepsi is pretty good too, unlike the ones from Singapore :

Pretzel Minis – heheh they’re tiny & so cute, & they taste really good!! Still remember I first tasted American Pretzel & was pretty amused by them when my sister brought packs of them home from Houston, USA many years ago!!

There’re different forms for Dear & I cos he’s a Malaysian – & mine is actually the below Green ones which the Flight stewardness innitially mistook & gave me the above white forms - & we read that if you’re a Family travelling together, you need to only fill in one Form (be it Malaysian or Singaporean Form), but since we’re given both Forms, we just fill in both just in case :

It’s now time for Dinner – Roasted Chicken with Tomato Sauce, Carrots, Long Beans & Fried Potatoes – served with Fried Chicken Nuggets & Salad on the sides, & Sweet Pastry & Chocolate Cake for dessert :

And while Dear continues to sleep after dinner, I watch the Inflight Entertainment Movie - “The Secret Life of Bees” - about 14-year-old Lily Owens who flees from her abusive Father in a Racist Town in South Carolina with her Caretaker in the 1960s - luckily we’re not seated too far away from the huge central TV screen heheh )

And about 2 hours later after my movie, Dear wakes up to work on his laptop cos he’s feeling kinda bored after sleeping for quite a while since flying from Tokyo :

And then we’re served Supper - Fresh Fruits Cake which are a bit too sweet for my liking though Dear pretty enjoys it!! And then it’s time for us to sleep again………………

And after don know how many hours of flying towards the Northern USA, I wake up to the aroma of Morning Coffee & fresh fragrance of Orange Juice……….. & as I peep through our Flight window – I see the outside beautiful night sky slowly changing from darkness into brightness…………..

GOOD MORNING Sunshine as breakfast is being served to us :

Bacon, Potato & Spinach Quiche with Sausage, Mash Potato & Mixed Vegetables Set with Apple & Peach with Custard Pastry & Fresh Fruits Platter, & our favourite Orange Juice :

Add pepper to the Bacon, Potato & Spinach Quiche & Sausage & they taste even better!!

And here’s Japanese-style Fried Noodle with Chicken with Pickles Set - very delicious!!

And we’re nearing Northern Minnesota sometime after Breakfast -  here you can see views of white snowy winter Minneapolis – the Largest City in the US State of Minnesota :

And just as I’m pleasantly surprised & enjoying the many white snowy patches among rows & rows of Christmas Trees down below in Minneapolis, I see something like “An Empire Lost in the Mist” far away in the foggy background – & it feels so mysterious :

And very soon, our flight lands at Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport and out of our Flight window I see many Northwest aircrafts – WHEW!! Dear & I finally make it to the United States of America after almost 20 hours from Singapore haha!!!

“Haha!! Haha!!! Dear!! Dear!! We’re in America now!! We’re in America now!! We’re really in America now!!!” Dear exclaims in enthusiasm as we’re waiting to get off the plane!!
